Commentary by Pastor Michael White:
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings…” (Is 54:2). The Holy Spirit, speaking through God’s prophet Isaiah, outlines how we are supposed to deal with barrenness in today’s reading. First, we praise. Abraham was called not to regard his aging body, or the deadness of Sarah’s womb, and simply believe for a son. We are called to do exactly the same thing: believe God’s promises, and praise Him even when an outcome seems supernatural. Then, we are called to make room for blessing. In Isaiah’s time, the Israelites were instructed to enlarge their tents and make room for more descendants. Today, we are still called to make room by taking a step out and living by faith. Speak to the areas of your life that have become barren. Praise God for His blessings, and then make room!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your blessings! I will appropriate the blessings You have for me by faith. I will praise You and make room for more of You in my life!
