Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it. Also, the descendants of His servants shall inherit it, and those who love His name shall dwell in it. – Ps. 69:35-36
God will build the city so that you may “dwell there and possess it.” Do you know how much He loves you? God loves you so much that He will not only rescue you out of your current mess; He will also build a protected place for you – not only for you to live in, but also to permanently possess. Your descendants shall inherit it, and they will keep it, as long as they love His name!
Are you building on your own? Or are you letting God build for you? There is a difference! If you try and build your life on your own, you will be responsible for the resources. You will have to buy the bricks! You will be on the hook for labor. The time, effort, and energy you expend building will be tremendous! And what’s worse, if you build it yourself, you will have to maintain it yourself. That is why building a life for yourself – on your own – is a waste of time:
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. – Ps. 127:1
God wants to build for you. All He needs from you is in invitation! Invite Him to build your life, so that You can sit at His feet and rest.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for building for me! I don’t want to build on my own any more. Come and construct the life You want me to have, and I will simply walk it out, in Jesus’ name!
