Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you who love her; rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her; that you may feed and be satisfied with the consolation of her bosom, that you may drink deeply and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.” – Isa. 66:10-11

When someone else has a victory, you have a choice. Will you get bitter and wish it were you? Or will you celebrate with them and rejoice even though the victory is not your own?

You reap what you sow. If you choose envy and bitterness, you will have your reward. You will miss the opportunity to celebrate! You will pass on the opportunity to praise. But if you rejoice, you will participate in the blessing of the person or people whom you are celebrating.

God told Israel’s allies to rejoice with her! And as they rejoiced, they would be “satisfied,” “drink deeply” and “be delighted” because God had blessed her so richly. When you celebrate with others, you get to share in the blessing. Today is not about you! It is about celebrating what God is doing in the lives of the people He sent you to love.

Prayer:

Father, when someone else tastes of victory, help me to celebrate! I refuse to be selfish and wish it were me. Instead, I will be selfless and praise because God is showing His faithfulness to everyone around me in Jesus’ name!
