Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…. – Phil 4:6
If you need something, ask God! But how you ask is important. Anxiety should not be in our prayer tool box. Instead, we must pray and ask – while we praise! – and God will open up every door.
Don’t hold back from God. Let your requests be made known! But ask the right way: without anxiety, and with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving kills anxiety. Thank Him, even if you don’t see the answer to your prayer! Praise Him as if it’s a done deal. When we thank God for things that have yet to happen, as if they’ve already been done, atmospheres change.
So, what do you need? Ask God. Then, praise Him like the answer is already in your hands.
Prayer:
Father, help me to be bold in my requests. I know God will satisfy my every need. I know He wants to satisfy my every need! Help me to ask well – without anxiety, and with thanksgiving – in Jesus’ name.
