Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.” – Jer 1:4-7
When God calls us to do great things, we often make excuses. “I’m not ready,” we say. “How can I make any money doing that?” we wonder. “Shouldn’t I go to seminary first?” we argue.
But what you need most is God’s call. If you have that, what’s stopping you? Instead of thinking of all the reasons it won’t work, what if you reminded yourself that you serve the God of the universe who makes “all things work together for good” (Rom 8:28)?
Stop making excuses! If God says it’s going to happen, it’s as good as done.
Prayer:
Father, I trust You! I will follow you wherever You tell me to go. I’m so grateful I get to follow You with all my heart, in Jesus’ name.
