Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house. – Prov 24:27

Jesus told His disciples to, “…seek first the kingdom of God” (Matt 6:33). Our first priority is to seek the kingdom of Heaven. In today’s verse, we are reminded that the outside work – telling people about Jesus – is the only thing that matters. We must take our eyes off ourselves and put our attention on others.

Are you worrying about you and yours? Or are you occupied with God and His? Take care of the work God has given you to do outside your house, and He will give you everything you need to build your own home.  Seek His kingdom first, and everything you need “shall be added to you” (Matt 6:33).

Prayer:

Father, help me to focus on Your work first. Everything You want to do through me is so much more important than anything I want to do myself. I want to win souls, in Jesus’ name!
