Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear. – Prov 25:11-12
Words are valuable. A word fitly spoken – at the right time and in the right way – carries just as much value as any luxury item. Even a rebuke – a negative word! – can have as much value as a priceless possession.
When people around you speak, listen. Do you have people in your life who are willing to speak the truth, instead of just telling you what you want to hear? I do! And those relationships are precious. Honest people make you better!
Prayer:
Father, I pray You would surround me with people who are willing to be honest and open. I need their words of wisdom! Make me receptive and thankful to hear everything they have to say, in Jesus’ name.
