Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And it shall come to pass, that as I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to throw down, to destroy, and to afflict, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the Lord. – Jer 31:28

Life happens in seasons. At first, the Lord watched over His people for one reason: to pluck them up and break them down. Then, the Lord watched over His people for another reason: to build them up and plant their roots. In different seasons, the Lord will watch over you to do different things!

Seasons of breaking down give way to seasons of building up. Sometimes the Lord will allow you to be broken down, so He can lay a new foundation. He will cause abundant fruit to spring forth once He has the foundation of faith He needs! Don’t despise the breaking down process God uses to purify your heart. Accept it. Welcome it! You will change seasons with a new foundation, and a new perspective.

Prayer:

Father, I give you permission to break down any unhealthy foundations in my life. If I’m building on anything unholy, root it out and cast it aside! Break me down to build me up, in Jesus’ name.
