Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

…for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. – 1 Tim 4:5

To be “sanctified” means to be pure, free from sin, and consecrated to God (Strong’s G37). Here Paul gives us two keys to sanctification! Sanctification happens with 1) the word of God, and 2) prayer. As you cover every area of your life with God’s word and prayer, you will be sanctified!

Sanctification happens as you saturate your life with the word of God and prayer. Does conflict exist in your family? Your family will be sanctified when you seek God’s will for them through His word, and pray His will out over your family members. Are you unhappy at your job? Your job will be sanctified as you read God’s word and pray over your place of employment.

If you want to make sure every corner of your life is sanctified and dedicated to God, fill your life with God’s word and prayer!

Prayer:

Father, Your commands are simple. Help me to love Your word with all my heart. Help me to pray as if my life depends on it: because it does! Thank You for sanctifying me, in Jesus’ name!
