Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
He who sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off his own feet and drinks violence. – Prov. 26:6
A surface-level interpretation of this verse reveals a simple truth: don’t send a fool to deliver your message. You may be a (wo)man of truth and integrity; but if you allow someone who lacks integrity to communicate on your behalf, you “cut off [your] own feet and [drink] violence.” This applies for both professional and personal communication at every level of an organization or family structure.
But now read the verse again and think about the implications on a deeper level. Jesus has a very important message to deliver to the world; and you are His messenger. That means that you are wise. You are capable. You can be trusted with the Gospel. Why? Because Jesus would never leave His message in the hand of a fool! He couldn’t, because it would contradict His word.
You see, Jesus needed someone of integrity and character whom He could trust to deliver the Good News to the world. And He chose you. God trusts you to get the job done! Be filled with confidence today as you share the Gospel with everyone you meet.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for trusting me to tell the greatest story ever told! I will share the Gospel with hope and confidence. I am both overwhelmed and thrilled that You would trust me with such an important work; but most of all, I am grateful, in Jesus’ name!
