Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began… – Titus 1:1-2
God cannot lie. It’s not just that He will not; Scripture says that He literally cannot lie. God – the Truth – is absolutely incapable of producing or saying anything that is false.
Think about the implications for your life. What has God spoken over you? What has He promised you? What has He whispered to you in the “secret place…under the shadow of His wings” (Ps. 91:1, 4)? Whatever He has spoken over you is true! And whatever “evidence” or “reality” you see that contradicts His word is a lie.
So rejoice! Because if God said it, it is true.
For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. – Rom. 3:3-4
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I can trust You! Every single word You speak is a promise. As soon as it leaves Your lips it is as good as done! Help me to trust You and You alone, in Jesus’ name!
