And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. – Gen 5:24
Enoch changed the pattern of human existence. All of his predecessors settled for life as usual. They lived for many years, and they died. Scripture describes nothing exciting in between their births and deaths. But Enoch broke the mold.
Enoch refused to settle for plain living. He was the first descendant of Adam to “walk with God” (Gen 5:22). As a result of his decision to walk with God, Enoch bypassed death completely. He was one of only two men to be taken directly up into Heaven by God (the other being Elijah; see 2 Kings 2:11).
Generations later, we see Noah learn from the habits of his great-grandfather Enoch. Noah “walked with God,” just as Enoch had (Gen 6:9). As a result, he found grace when every other man was corrupt in God’s eyes. God looked around and saw only wickedness all over the world; but Scripture says that Noah, “…found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Gen 6:8).
The key to grace and favor – heaven invading your life – is walking with God. God promises us that when we draw near to Him, He draws near to us (Jas 4:8). So, what are you waiting for? When you make a decision to walk with God no matter what, He promises to stay by your side every step of the way. You will be covered with grace, and saturated in favor, and everything your hands touch will be blessed!
Prayer:
Father, I want to walk with You! I refuse to live a normal, boring life. I refuse to go about business as usual. I want to walk with You every day of my life, in Jesus’ name!
