Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking” (Ezek 2:1). Ezekiel fell on his face whenever He saw the glory of the Lord. God’s presence was so powerful that he simply could not remain standing! In fact, Ezekiel “fell on his face” twice (Ezek 1:28 and 2:23) when He encountered God’s presence because he was so overwhelmed. God’s would show His glory, and Ezekiel would fall on his face as a completely involuntary reaction. Then, the pattern reverses. Ezekiel was left “alone” (Ezek 9:8) and realized he really needed to experience God’s glory again. So, he took the step of voluntarily falling on his face…and God showed up and spoke to him.
Are you waiting to hear from God? Humble yourself, fall on your face, and allow Him to speak!
Prayer:
Father, I want to fall on my face and worship You! Thank You for Your goodness and Your kindness. Help me never to forget what Your glory looks like.
