Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking. – Ezek. 1:28

Ezekiel had an encounter with God. He was “among the captives” when the “heavens were opened and [he] saw visions of God” (v 1). Ezekiel was in the middle of a situation that was bad and getting worse, but God met him in that place. God didn’t even show Ezekiel His glory (see Ex. 33:18-23); He just showed him “the likeness of the glory of the Lord” (v 28). Ezekiel got just a glimpse of what God looks like in Heaven! But it was enough. He was so overwhelmed that when he saw it, he fell on his face. He could not stand. He collapsed under the weighty presence of the glory of the Lord.

You might be in the midst of a tough situation just like Ezekiel. But my prayer for you today is that God would speak to you in that place! I pray you would have an encounter with Jesus Christ Himself today by the power of His Holy Spirit who lives in you “as a guarantee” (2 Cor. 1:22, 5:5).  God will meet you in the middle of your mess and so overwhelm you with His presence that you will not be able to stand! And when you finally get up from that encounter with His presence, you will never be the same.

Prayer:

Lord, I want to fall on my face! I pray that You would overwhelm me with Your presence, just like You did Ezekiel. I am asking for an encounter in Jesus’ name! I need You. I need to see You! I need to see Your goodness and Your glory.
