Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts. – Ps 125:4

God is good to those who are good; not to those who do good. Notice the difference. If God were good to those who do good, we would have to earn His favor. But if God is good to those who are good, we don’t have to do anything to activate His goodness; we simply have to be who He created us to be!

God made you a human being; not a human doing. Jesus already did everything that needed to be done. When we believe in Him, we become like Him. We are covered with His goodness, and God’s favor is activated over our lives!

Do less; be more. Jesus did the work, so you can have the rest.

Prayer:

Father, help me to do less; and to be more! I know I already have Your infinite love and your endless affection. Help me to rest in the finished work of the Cross, in Jesus’ name.
