Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep. – Ps 127:2

Losing sleep is not Biblical. Are you so worried you wake up well before your alarm clock: not on purpose to pray, but against your will because your mind starts racing with all your cares and concerns? There’s a problem there. Are you so preoccupied you sit up late: unable to drift off to sleep, because you can’t get everything you have to do off your mind? There’s a problem there.

God gives His beloved sleep! If you’re losing sleep over something – i.e. if you’re worrying too much – don’t accept it; fix it! Cast your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Pet 5:7)! Slow down and talk to God. Tell Him what’s on your mind, and ask Him to take it away! Refuse to worry, because Jesus is with you; and when He is with you, you are safe and sound!

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matt 11:28-30

Prayer:

Father, I am so grateful I get to take everything I am carrying, and deposit it at Your feet. I let go of all my worries, right now, in Jesus’ name. I will not lose sleep any more! Thank You for loving me, protecting me, and giving Your beloved sleep.
