Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“I also withheld rain from you, when there were still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city. One part was rained upon, and where it did not rain the part withered.” – Amos 4:7
Two cities were right next to each other. One received rain: necessary rain required for a successful harvest. The other did not. One flourished! The other withered. What was the difference between the city that received rain and the city that did not? It was not geography; it was obedience to the Lord.
One city heeded the voice of God. The other did not. The people of one city followed the command of God! The people of the other did not. God wants to bless you! But He cannot bless you if you persistently wander outside the boundaries He has given you in His word. Stay inside the precipitation zone. Go where God wants you to go, say what He wants you to say, and do what He wants you to do! And you will be abundantly blessed.
“..then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.” – Deut. 11:14
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for raining down Your blessings on me! Help me to always be grateful, and to never be impatient or disobedient, in Jesus’ name!
