Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. Then he cried out and said, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” So the people of Nineveh believed God… – Jon 3:4-5
Jonah walked into a city known for its wickedness (Jon 1:2). He thought the people of Nineveh would reject him. He thought they would be angry at his prophetic word; but they believed! They were far from angry; in fact, they received the word and repented!
We spend so much time worrying what will happen if we share our faith. What will other people think? We think of a million and one reasons why our friends and family won’t make a decision for Jesus. But what if they do? What if they believe?
Don’t assume you know how people will react to God’s Word. Maybe they will reject it; but maybe they will receive it!
Prayer:
Father, help me to confidently share my faith. It’s not my responsibility to worry about what might go wrong if people reject You; it’s only my job to give them the invitation to receive You. Fill me with faith to let the world know You are good.
