Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. – Ex 19:17
The role of the Christian leader is to “bring the people out…to meet with God:” to be a sign that points people straight to Jesus. Your pastor is not a middleman who needs to talk to God for you. Your friends who spend a lot of time in prayer do not need to put in a good word with God on your behalf. You can speak to God directly! His will has always been – and always will be – to speak with you directly, and meet you face to face.
Come out and meet with God. Stand at the foot of the mountain, and gaze up into the presence of God. You don’t need to be afraid of God’s presence! What you find on the mountain with God will be far greater than anything you could ever find here below.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for inviting me into Your presence. I don’t want to be afraid anymore! I will enter in, and let You see every part of me. I don’t want to be complacent anymore! I will speak to You myself, instead of letting others do it on my behalf. I love You – and I love Your presence – in Jesus’ name!
