Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” – Hab 2:2-3

We should record everything God speaks to us: visions, dreams, thoughts in prayer, revelation, etc. We should make it plain, and easy to understand. The purpose is twofold:

1) It’s for you. Whenever you read it, you will be reminded of God’s faithfulness, and energized to run full speed ahead in the pursuit of His promise. Even if it takes a while for the promise to unfold, you should never panic. God invites you to have more faith in His word than you do in the reality you see around you.

2) It’s for others. Professional runners have pacers: people who help motivate them to run better and faster. Your walk with Jesus should be no different. When you write down a vision, the people you trust to read it should be ready and willing to jump in and support.

A recorded vision is evidence of God’s faithfulness. When His word comes to pass, all will see that His will was already recorded, well in advance!

Prayer:

Father, remind me to write down all the words You have spoken to me. I do it for me, and I do it for others; but ultimately I do it for You! I trust that every word You have spoken over my life will come to pass, in Jesus’ name!
