Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“I will bring them back, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They shall be My people and I will be their God, in truth and righteousness.” – Zech. 8:8
You will be His people. He will be your God: not just in word and pretense, but in truth and righteousness! This verse is all about possession. You belong to God and God belongs to you! You are His, and He is yours! Whether or not you ‘deserve’ His love is irrelevant; because He already poured out His blood for you on the cross of Jesus Christ whether you feel like you ‘deserve’ it or not.
What did you ask for this year on Christmas? What do you want that you don’t already have? God has already given you the greatest gift. He has given you Himself. He has made you His own! And He will never leave you nor forsake you. No matter what is under your tree or in your stocking this morning, remember this: you have Jesus, the best Gift of all!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the amazing gift of the Cross. I am so undeserving of Your love! But You have given it to me all the same. Thank you that because of Jesus, I am Yours and You are mine! I am forever grateful, in Jesus’ name.
