Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” – Rev 18:4

There will be times when the Lord calls you to stay and be a light in a dark place; but there will also be instances where the Lord calls you out of a dark place so you are not dragged into darkness! Sometimes we are supposed to stay and pray for the city (Jer 29:7); but other times, we are supposed to leave for our own good!

So how can you tell the difference? Listen to God. Ask Him if you should stay or go, and He will certainly answer! There is no formula for where – or how long – you should stay to do God’s work. When He tells you to stay, stay; and when He tells you to go, go!

Prayer:

Father, give me wisdom to discern Your will. I don’t want to assume I know what You want me to do; I want to know what You want me to do, beyond the shadow of a doubt! Speak to me, and I will step out in faith, in Jesus’ name!
