Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land. – Ex 23:29
God promised to bring Israel into the Promised Land, and to crush all their enemies. However, He wouldn’t eliminate their enemies overnight. God chose to drive them out “little by little,” so that Israel would receive her inheritance in good condition.
God chose not to destroy Israel’s enemies too quickly, because it was not in their best interest for the Promised Land to sit unoccupied. He waited to completely drive out Israel’s enemies until His people were fully prepared to inhabit His promise. In the same manner, God may fulfill your destiny gradually because it is in your best interest!
Sometimes, God will exalt you overnight. However, oftentimes God raises you up little by little. He doesn’t do it to test your patience; He delays the promise for your benefit. Whatever you’re praying for, know that God will deliver His promise in His perfect timing. Until then, He will steward and protect your destiny better than you could ever imagine.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me a divine inheritance, and a supernatural destiny! Thank You for protecting me for my benefit. Thank You for preserving my promise for my own good. I trust You, and I will wait for You!
