Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the Lord continually. – Ex 28:29

Scripture describes the garments Aaron and the priests wore in great detail. Aaron was to wear a “breastplate of judgment over his heart.” That breastplate had the names of the twelve tribes of Israel inscribed on it. So, whenever Aaron went into the holy place, he would have the twelve tribes of the people of Israel “over his heart.” He would lift them up in prayer, “…as a memorial before the Lord continually.”

The primary role of the Christian leader is to pray: to always keep God’s people on his heart. Good preaching is awesome! Motivating people to work together is fun! But if you don’t have a heart for the people, you have nothing at all. If you don’t pray for the people God has called you to lead, you’re not really leading!

Take a moment today to remember the people God has put in your life. Keep them on your heart. Lift them up in prayer! As you bring them before God, He will move through their lives, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Father, help me to be a better leader. Remind me to pray for the people You have called me to lead. Thank You for giving me time to pray, and for giving me authoritative prayers that move mountains, in Jesus’ name!
