Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. – Matt 26:13

As Jesus sat at Simon’s table, a woman came and poured, “…an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil” on His head (Matt 26:7). The disciples chided her for being wasteful. Jesus, however, praised her for being wise.

This woman honored Jesus with what was undoubtedly her most prized possession. Jesus Christ is God’s Most Prized Possession. He poured out His blood on the Cross, as the ultimate sacrifice, so that we might be reconciled to God. It is only fitting, therefore, that we honor God with everything we have in return.

God doesn’t want your money; He wants your worship. He wants your love, your adoration and your praise! This woman’s sacrifice was not significant because of its monetary value, but because of the devotion it displayed. God wants us to worship Him with all we have to give; not just leftovers.

Take whatever you have to give, and pour it out at the feet of Jesus. There is no better investment you can make.

Prayer:

Father, I give You my life! I lay everything I have at Your feet. Take it and make it new, in Jesus’ Mighty Name.
