Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” – Ps 31:14

Trust sounds like something. David trusted God, so he said. He put his trust into words, and declared out loud that he belonged to God.

To “trust” means to have complete confidence in someone: to be bold, and to be secure. The enemy loves to undermine our trust in God by whispering lies into our ear. “God doesn’t love you,” Satan says. “His promises won’t come true,” he taunts. “Does God even exist?” he asks.

Whenever Satan whispers lies into our thought life, we should respond out loud. Whenever we don’t feel like we trust God, we should declare – out loud, just like David did – that He is our God! When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus responded out loud with Scripture (see Lk 4:1-13). We should do the same!

Prayer:

Father, I trust You. No matter what my life looks like, I trust You! I am Your child, and You are my God. I will declare it until my dying day, in Jesus’ name!!
