Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore. – Gen 8:12

Noah and his family had just spent over one year in an ark, floating on a flood.[1] Finally, the ground was dry! So why didn’t Noah come out of the ark right away? Why was he still waiting, and playing games by sending out ravens and doves?

Because he hadn’t heard the word of the Lord. Noah was waiting for God to speak before he moved from the safety of the ark:

Then God spoke to Noah, saying, “Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.” – Gen 8:15-16

Noah was doubtless tired of being in the boat; but he didn’t rush to leave the safe place where God had him. He stayed put until God told him it was safe to come out!

Trust the process. Wait for a word from God before rushing into your future. Don’t move until God tells you to go! When it’s time for you to be released into your destiny, God will let you know.

Prayer:

Father, help me to wait patiently for Your voice. I’m getting antsy and I want a word now! But I know You speak according to Your timeline, and not mine. I will stay put – right where You have me – until it’s time to move out!
