Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. – Ex 35:21
What an offering! God told Moses exactly how to construct the tabernacle that would house His presence. Then, He asked the people to provide the materials for the work. But notice that God asks gently. God didn’t demand supplies from the people, and threaten to curse them if they didn’t meet the need! He stirred their hearts. He gave them willing spirits! And when they had been moved, the people brought the offering.
What a beautiful exchange! 1) God provides for His people, 2) God plans, and 3) the people provide what is necessary for God’s plan from the provision He has given them. God gives freely to us so that we might be willing to make His plans happen when He needs us to give back! What is God planning in your life?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for supplying everything I need. I know everything I have is a gift from You. Thank You for providing more than enough, in Jesus’ name!
