Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”- Mk 2:4-5
The man Jesus healed in this story was paralyzed. He could not move for himself. He could not reach out and touch the hem of Jesus’ garment like the woman with the issue of blood (Mk 5:25-34). He could not approach Jesus and ask Him if He was willing to cleanse him like the leper (Mk 1:41). His sickness prohibited him from expressing radical faith on his own.
So his friends had faith for him. They climbed up to the top of the home in which Jesus was teaching, tore off the roof, and lowered their friend until he was right in front of Jesus. The paralyzed man was healed because of the faith of his friends.
If you do not have faith for your healing, surround yourself with people who do. Allow – or better yet, ask – them to pray for you. Jesus healed the paralyzed man when He saw their faith. He may heal you when He sees the faith of those contending in prayer with you!
Prayer:
Father, surround me with faithful friends who are willing to pray for me! I want to be inspired by their faith to expect complete healing. I am healed by faith, not by works!
