Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before my face. – Psalm 5:8
Lead me, oh Lord, in Your righteousness. Genuine faith means recognizing we cannot lead ourselves into righteousness; we must ask God to make us righteous instead! None of us is perfect; we have all made mistakes! But Jesus lived a perfect life and died for our sins so we could, “…become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor 5:21).
Make Your way straight before my face. Do you want to experience true freedom? Give up trying to be perfect, and trust in Jesus’ perfection instead! Do you want to experience breakthrough? Give up trying to make your own way, and invite God to make His way straight before your face. Breakthrough comes when we stop trusting ourselves, and trust in God instead!
Prayer:
Father, help me to trust You like never before. Remind me to never lean on my own strength, but to lean on You instead!
