Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! – Ps 46:10
Be still is the Hebrew raphah (Strong’s #7503), which means to relax or let drop. The verb is used to describe letting go of a grip (Ex 4:26), or dropping your arms to your sides (Ezek 1:24-25). God calls us to be still – to relax and let go – and let Him be God!
Be still. Relax! Let go, and let your arms drop to your side. Know that God is God; and understand that you are not! There will be things you cannot control, and outcomes you cannot predict; but God is always in control. Trust Him!
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” – Reinhold Niebuhr
Prayer:
Father, help me to relax! I know You have everything under perfect control. I release all my cares, worries and concerns to you now. Help me to trust You more, in Jesus’ name!
