Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents. – Num 9:17

This is a prophetic picture of how we are to live our lives: always pursuing the presence of God! When God moves, we should follow; but when God settles over a place, we should pitch our tents and camp around His presence!

There is no such thing as defeat in the presence of God. Loneliness does not exist in the presence of God. Poverty cannot exist in the presence of God! No matter what you are lacking, the remedy is in His presence. The matter what you are facing, the solution is in the cloud!

Notice the one thing often required to pursue the presence of God: patience! Patience means refusing to move from God’s presence, no matter how long He tarries. Do you want an encounter with God? Open up your schedule! Wait for Him to move, go where He goes, and do what He does!

Prayer:

Father, I am humbly yet boldly requesting an encounter with You! Strengthen me to pursue Your presence at all times, in Jesus’ name.
