Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the unfaithful will be caught by their lust. – Prov 11:6
What does it mean to be free? Does freedom mean doing whatever you want? Or does it mean not having to do what the enemy wants?
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? – Rom 6:1-2
Righteousness delivers; but lust ensnares. “Doing whatever you want” might feel freeing for an instant; but the consequences can last a lifetime. Do you want to be free? Follow after God with your whole heart. Become the righteousness of Christ (2 Cor 5:21). He will show you your divine design; and as you walk it out, you will be freer than ever before.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making me free from sin! I know true freedom means doing what You want me to do, and not listening to anyone else. Thank You for Your presence and direction in my life, in Jesus’ name.
