Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?” – Mk 16:3

Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome wondered who would move the stone from the tomb for them as they approached. But when they arrived, God had already moved on their behalf!

God’s first action after the Resurrection was the removal of an obstacle, in advance, for the disciples. This sets a precedent for how we should expect God to provide for us as we enter into New Covenant relationship with Him. We already know that God does nothing without first revealing His will to His servants (Amos 3:7). Now He promises us that He will also make preparation for us, and move on our behalf, as we set out to worship Jesus!

The women at the tomb were on their way to worship. As they pursued God first (Matt 6:33), God worked to move every obstacle that stood in their way!

What obstacles in your life stand in the way of worshipping Jesus? Ask God to move them for you. Pursue worship of Him, with full trust that He will move anything that stands in your path!

Prayer:

Father, I renounce every self-imposed barrier I have constructed between me and You. I want to worship You with my whole heart! I pray that You would move every obstacle that stands in the way, in Jesus’ mighty name!
