Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. So Sihon gathered all his people together and went out against Israel in the wilderness, and he came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. – Num 21:23
God’s people wanted to pass through enemy territory; but the enemy wouldn’t let them! The Amorites were aggressive towards Israel, seemingly for no reason; but God’s people didn’t have to panic. God gave them victory in the end.
Are there areas of your life where the enemy is trying you prevent you from passing through? He thinks it’s his right to deny you passage; but his refusal will be his downfall. God will use his stubbornness to stoke the fires of permanent defeat. Insist on pressing through into the places God has called you, and He will give you victory in the end!
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I don’t have to fear the enemy. You have given me authority and victory in every area of my life! I thank You for it, in Jesus’ name.
