Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” – Lk 5:5
The word of God changes everything. Simon didn’t let down the net because it made sense; he let down the net because Jesus told him to! Once Jesus spoke, Simon Peter was no longer just casting out a net to see what he would catch; he was faithfully acting on the word God had spoken! What a difference! They caught, “…a great number of fish” (v 6), and their nets started to break.
When Jesus is with you, everything changes. When you are executing God’s plan instead of your own, you cannot fail. Get a word from God, and walk it out, in Jesus’ name!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your word! Help me to faithfully listen to Your voice – and to faithfully execute Your word – every day of my life!
