Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them. – Lk 4:39

What do you do when you get a fever? Do you sleep it off? Eat chicken soup and curl up on the couch? Do you run to the doctor and ask for a cure?

Look at how Jesus responded to a fever: He “…rebuked the fever, and it left.” Notice the authority Jesus carried. He didn’t ask the fever to leave. He didn’t pray to God that He would remove it. He knew He had authority over it, and He knew His Father’s will was to heal; so He commanded the fever to leave, “…and it left her!”

You have Jesus’ authority:

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. – Lk 10:19

Shouldn’t fevers listen to you too?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for giving me Kingdom authority. I believe sickness should flee when I pray, the same way it did when Jesus prayed! Help me to exercise my authority, in Jesus’ name.
