Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” – Lk 7:13

Jesus entered a city called Nain, and encountered a woman who had just lost her only son. When He saw her, He gave her so much more than a shoulder to cry on. He gave her a God to believe in. He gave her hope in the midst of her despair. He gave her the promise that no matter how dead her son seemed, He would bring him back to life!

Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. – Lk 7:14-15

Jesus offers hope for the hopeless. He exchanges death for life! The Christian faith is so much more than just a vague hope that things will get better. It is a specific promise that even when we die, we will live again: that when we leave this world, we will meet God face to face, and be with Him for all eternity.

Through Jesus, we have Resurrection life!

Prayer:

Father, thank You that I have Resurrection life! Help me to remember that no matter what I go through, You have given me a future and a hope. I thank You for that, in Jesus name!
