Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children… – Gen 20:17

Abraham and Sarah were barren; but they put their own prayers on hold and prayed for another couple – Abimelech and his wife – to have children. Abraham prayed for something he himself did not even have! God granted Abimilech a child because of Abraham’s prayers.

Do you see what’s happening here? In the very next chapter (Gen 21:2), God gave Abraham and Sarah their son Isaac. Abraham prayed for someone else in the area where he needed breakthrough. As soon as he prayed for someone else to have a child, God not only granted the answer to his prayer; He also gave Abraham a son of his own!

Your breakthrough will come when you go out and pray for someone else in the very same area where you need breakthrough. Take your eyes off your own problem, and pray for someone else! Do you need a new job? Find someone else who needs a job, and pray for them. Are you believing for a spouse? Find someone else who wants to get married, and pray for them. Are you praying for a child? Find someone else who is having trouble conceiving and pray for them! God will release their blessing – and then He will release yours!

Prayer:

Father, help me to take my eyes off myself, and focus on others! Remind me to pray for other people more than I pray for myself. I know that as I pray for their breakthrough, You will make mine happen!
