Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” – Lk. 9:60
Jesus was telling His disciples about the cost of following Him. They would have to give things up. They would have to leave things behind! But the reward for the sacrifice would be getting to preach the kingdom of God: sharing the good news with the whole world that Jesus would die so that they could live!
Perhaps you run a successful business; but in all your running, do not forget that your primary mission is to preach the kingdom of God. Maybe you are a teacher; but in all your teaching, never forsake your mission to preach the kingdom of God! You might be a stay at home parent; but in all your raising, always keep your focus on the one mission that matters most: that you preach the kingdom of God.
Life is full of enterprises, surprises and distractions. But no matter what may come, you go and preach the kingdom of God. Because in the end, His kingdom is all that matters.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for tasking me with the incredible mission to preach the gospel to the men and women I meet and spend time with every day. Thank You for creating supernatural opportunities for me to tell people about Jesus! I pray they would be fruitful and fun, in Jesus’ name.
