Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And [Jesus] said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him…’” – Lk. 11:5-6
Jesus is this Friend! Jesus will come to you at times that are downright inconvenient. His Holy Spirit will come and wake you up, and ask if you are willing to do something for Him. God will come and interrupt your life, and hope that you are willing to be a blessing to someone He puts in your path! When He does, what will your answer be?
Are you willing to drop whatever you are doing and say “Yes” to the prompting of the Spirit of Jesus? He can be persistent. He won’t give up asking in as many ways – and in as many places! – as He possibly can! Will you make today the day you say yes – once and for all – to the Holy Spirit, and live a life in partnership with Him? Will you allow yourself to be used by God to bless other people and serve Him however He desires?
There are people around you whom God wants to bless! But He can only do it through you. Jesus is knocking. Will you open the door and give Him your heart?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for never giving up on me. Thank You for being persistent! I pray I would never turn a blind eye to what You are showing me, or give a deaf ear to what You are saying! Use me Lord, in Jesus’ name!
