Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. – Deut. 28:12

Deuteronomy 28 lists blessings on obedience. When you obey God’s voice and heed His command, “…all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you” (v 2). Study Deuteronomy 28. Digest and receive it for your life! When you obey God, you won’t have to chase His blessings; His blessings will chase you down!

One of those blessings is debt-free living. “You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow” (v 12). “Nations” represent other people: typically those who don’t know God (i.e. non-Hebrew people).[1] You will lend to people who don’t know God, but you will not have to borrow from them any more!

God doesn’t want you in debt! Will you receive this over your life? He wants you abundantly blessed so you can lend. And do you know why He is so passionate about bringing you out of debt? Because He is “married to you” (Jer. 3:14). When I married my wife, her debt became my debt. My debt became her debt! And from that moment forward, we started working together to get rid of it and live debt-free. And when you receive Jesus, He will do the same for you.

God wants to get you out of debt. He is willing, and He is able! Will you believe that He wants to do it? Will you let Him bring you into abundant life?

Prayer:

Father, I confess that living in debt is not living Your will! Thank You for wanting to be married to me, even though I don’t deserve it. Thank You for paying my debt, in Jesus’ name! I am ready for supernatural strategies to get my financial life on track, in Jesus’ name.
