Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. – Deut 29:29
A revelation is simply a secret God reveals to us. Secrets belong to God, but Moses explained to the children of Israel that revelation belongs to us.
Once God reveals His secrets to us, they are no longer secrets; they are now our possession. We can appropriate them, and receive them for our lives. Once we have been given a revelation, it can never be taken away. Every revelation can be passed on to our children forever so that subsequent generations can benefit from everything we have learned and internalized.
Amos 3:7 says, “Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” God does not move without first communicating His plans to His faithful servants. God will whisper His secrets to us when we create quiet space in which we can listen to Him. God is always speaking. Whether or not His secrets are revealed to us does not depend on His willingness to speak, but on our willingness to listen.
So, church: are you listening?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for speaking to me! I know that when I make time to listen, You will reveal Your secrets to me. Help me to make time to listen in the secret place. I need Your revelation, and I will seek Your voice!
