Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
These are the words of the covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb. – Deut. 29:1
Before Moses died, God renewed His covenant with His people. He reiterated His promises. He reminded them that they had pledged to be faithful to Him! And the fruit of that renewed covenant – at least for a time – was faithfulness to Him, along with full and fruitful lives for His people.
Renew your covenant with God. Ask Him to remind you of His promises! Give Him your heart all over again. It’s not just an empty gesture! It will lead you into a period of faithfulness and fruitfulness like you’ve never known before.
Just as a married couple that renews their vows will feel young and in love again, a Christian who renews his vow to Jesus will come back to his first love with passion and purpose. Pray this with me:
Prayer:
Jesus, I give my life to you all over again. I’m sorry there have been moments when I’ve put my agenda ahead of Yours. I receive Your forgiveness! And I receive Your love. I can live for You, because I am loved by You, in Jesus’ name! Amen.
