This country is inexplicably beautiful. We arrived in Guatemala City, a congested metropolis of five million people. In an hour, we were in a different world. The world turned into a five… million shades of green. The landscape is spread out in the shape of an unmade bed, now rolling hills covered with deep green trees, then crags and valleys that appear out of nowhere, with crops planted in steppes on impossibly steep slopes. Each small town seems to start with a shop which prominently features potato chips in large displays. As the sun went down in the valleys, a mist covered the hills in a way that made it seem like the Lord had more greys and blues than I had known before.
Each town also seems to have a church. Mike McComb shared with the team that in the last year, there’s been an explosion of people coming to Christ in Guatemala. The team is excited to be a part of what the Lord is doing here. Tomorrow the construction team will start on the fence around the McComb’s in the morning, and the Kids’ Outreach team will meet to go over what they will present to the children. We’ll all join together for service tomorrow night.
