Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him… – 1 Cor 1:4-5
Thank God for grace! Grace is unmerited favor. That means God gives us good things we don’t deserve! We have an eternal future in Heaven with Him! Here on earth, we have a Scriptural right to a life free from sickness and disease! That means there are benefits to salvation that we should always contend for, and never forget:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. – Ps 103:2-5
Grace means God blesses us with good things we don’t deserve. Mercy means He holds back bad things we do deserve! And both are ours in the name of Jesus.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for grace! Thank You for Your supernatural favor, in Jesus’ name. Your grace is an eternal gift, and I thank You for it in Jesus’ name!
