Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. – 2 Cor 11:3

The Gospel is simple. We are far from perfect; so God sent His Only Son, Jesus – who is perfect – to die for our sins! Without Jesus, we are far from God; but in Christ, we are sons and daughters of God Himself!

Paul reminded the early church that the Gospel is simple. In fact, he warned them, there would be teachers who would endeavor to convince them that the Gospel was more complicated than it had to be. There would be false teachers who would try to add conditions to salvation. There would be “false apostles” (v 13) who would try to convince people how smart they are, instead of telling them how good God is!

The Gospel is simple. You don’t need a PhD in theology to know that God loves you! Now go out and tell someone!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the simple Gospel. I pray I would never be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Lord, I love You: plain and simple, in Jesus’ name!
