Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished. – Deut. 34:7

Moses lived a long life. He wasn’t perfect! He had made some mistakes. But Moses walked with God. Notice the fruit: “His eyes were not dim nor his [strength] diminished.” Moses was just as perceptive, and just as energetic, at age 120 as he had been as a young man. Why? Because he walked with God.

Moses had insisted on walking with God his entire life:

Then [Moses] said to [God], “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” – Ex. 33:15

Wherever Moses went, he had God’s presence. Moses met with God. The Lord, “spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Ex. 33:11). Moses’ face shone when he talked with God (Ex. 34:29), which shows that transformation occurs on a cellular level when we meet with God face to face!

Caleb had the same experience. Caleb received his inheritance in the Promised Land at age eighty-five! Yet his comment on that day was, “I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in” (Josh. 14:11).

When you walk with God, you will stay strong. Your eyes will be open! Your vigor will not be diminished. Because spending time with God refreshes and rejuvenates every part of your being – spirit, soul and body – like nothing else can.

Prayer:

God, thank You for giving me access to Your presence. I am so grateful that I get to spend time with You! I am so thankful for Your presence, in Jesus’ name.
