Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’ ” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained. – Judges 7:3

Gideon invited anyone in his army who was scared to go home. Twenty-two thousand left; and ten thousand remained. Far more people were afraid than courageous; yet glory was reserved for those who had the courage to stay.

Fear comes easily; but courage is hard to muster. Fear works through weakness; but courage only comes to those who cultivate strength. When God asks you to fight, will you be strong and courageous? Or will you buckle under the weight of fear?

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Josh 1:9

Prayer:

Father, help me to be courageous. I want to fight for You! I never want to back away from a battle You have already called me to win, in Jesus’ name!
