Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before.” – Ruth 2:11

Ruth’s reputation preceded her! Everywhere she went, she was known as a woman of character and integrity. She did not have to try to build a noble reputation; she simply acted out of loyalty and God built a flawless reputation on her behalf. Ruth simply did the right thing, no matter the cost. God always saw, even when it felt like no one was watching.

If you build your own reputation, you have to maintain it; but if God builds your reputation for you, it will never fail.

Prayer:

Father, help me to follow Jesus Christ with my whole heart. I know that when I honor You, I won’t even have to worry about my reputation!
